(10), 455 pp. With 18 engravings & 1 letterpress document. Contemporary full marbled calf, covers richly decorated with double gilt-tooled frames, 8 gilt-tooled floral corner decorations, gilt central ornament depicting two joined hands within a gilt-tooled heart, symbolizing a priest, and surrounded by 4 small roses, gilt-decorated board edges and infolds, spine with 5 gilt-tooled raised bands, 4 compartments with gilt-tooled decorations and 2 compartments with gilt-tooled title and author's name.A methodical French treatise of Logic in Latin, undoubtedly lecture notes, written in a legible hand in Latin in a splendid binding.Provenance: According to an annotation on the first 2 text-leaves of the preliminaries, the author was a priest from Chateaubriant in Bretagne (between Nantes and Rennes) who studied philosophy with Professor Pierre Mace at the Faculte de Theologie of the University of Nantes in 1749-1750. "Logica Data a DD Petro Mace philosophioe professore, nec non Subtilissimo Sacroe facultatis nannetensis, Baccalaureo Theologo. Salutis Reparata, anno 1749". On the next text-leaf: "Logica Scripta a josepho Sebastiano Paulo Boulle, Castrobriandoeo; Sacerdotum, Sti Clementis Communitatis.
