First Printing Very good+ in 3/4 light green leather and printed paper covered boards with five raised bands on the spine with gilt tool work and text in the compartments. A 12mo of 7 1/4 by 5 inches with the leather rubbed at the corners of the spine and at the tips of the boards, the paper is also rubbed through at the edges of the boards and the front hinge has been reinforced with Japanese tissue. The front and rear joints are lightly rubbed and the rear hinge is tight. The contents are bound in tightly and are free of foxing, tanning and any prior ownership markings. 310 pages of text followed by 16 pages of ads by the publisher. Illustrated with a frontispiece and six plates from paintings by Stockton Mulford. From the list of illustrations one plate (page 82) is missing and appears not to have been bound-in to this copy.
