Cobden, Richard, Nationalökonom und Staatsmann (1804-1865).
Eigenhändiger Brief mit Unterschrift Paris, 20. IX. 1846, 8°. 2 1/2 Seiten. Doppelblatt.
I write in some haste. Your letter has just reached my hand on my return from the mountains, and I am afraid you will have been waiting my reply. I shall not therefore say a word about the Pyrenées but go direct to Bordeaux. I agree with you that the offer from the Mayor is better than a traitement from the Paris Association, and upon certain terms I really see no loss of caste in accepting it. If I were you I would take it on their conditions. I will be your delegate in Paris to watch over the interests of the question in the best way in my power, & I will accept the traitement to meet the expenses I incur in living in Paris. Really in that point of view I do not see how your influence need suffer. I would agree to it. I am glad to see that Marseille is moving. I have written to [François Barthélemy] Arlès-Dufour [Ökonom; 1797-1872] to stimulate the Lyons people. Can't you set them in motion in Nantes, Havre, &c? [...]" - Selten.
