Contemporary full-calf, with more recent spine preserving most of original red morocco label, all in very pleasing, thor. vg. condition. A great copy of the final edition of this scarce title. (Harding 18). ‘This is the greatest early British Bee Book and contains the best account of skep beekeeping which is available today’ (Harding). Originally published in 1609, it was was revised in 1623 and 1634. The book was later translated into Latin in 1678 and 1682 and then back into English in 1704. Charles Butler sometimes called the Father of English Beekeeping, was a logician, grammarist, author and minister. This was the first full length English language book about beekeeping. It remained a practical guide for beekeepers for over two hundred years until Langstroth’s work. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
