The Savannah City Code: Comprising the Statutes and Ordinances Relating to the City of Savannah
Savannah: George B. Clarke, 1871. First Edition. Leather bound. Good. Octavo. [1], viii, 534 pages. Brown leather binding. Boards are ruled in blind with gilt title, decorative designs, gilt embossed illustration of the City of Savannah seal and previous owners name stamped in gilt on the front cover. Leather is rubbed along the board edges, outer joints, and at the head and base of the spine. Binding is very secure and not shaken but stitching is sometimes visible in the gutters. Yellow end papers are lightly foxed with some brown edge stains. Light toning to the paper. Laws include the powers of the Mayor and City Council, Board of Health, Cemeteries, chimney contractors, City Court, City Domain, Docks, Wharves, Education, Gunpowder, Pilotage, Police, and much more. Gilt stamped name on the front cover is Ald. Thos. H. Harden. Previous owner's inscription on the right front flyleaf reads - "Thos H Harden 1873". Thomas H. Harden served as Savannah City Alderman from 1873-1874. This code book was printed during the last year of Reconstruction in Georgia. Scarce code book. 10 copies located in OCLC.
