ROCKWELL, Norman
Four Freedoms
US Government Printing Office, Washington, 1943. Posters. Series of 4. Offset lithograph. 40" x 28 1/2". This historically significant WWII-era poster series features artwork by beloved American artist Norman Rockwell, inspired by President Roosevelt during his Four Freedoms speech in January 1941. The four posters, after oil paintings made by Rockwell titled "The Four Freedoms", were originally published in the Saturday Evening Post, appearing in four consecutive issues. The series became very popular and the posters were widely distributed by the Office of War Information in an effort to raise funds for the War Bond. The OWI also held a touring exhibition of the original paintings as part of the War Bond Drive. The posters were issued in various sizes, with this series being the largest. The posters are in good condition. Folds as issued.
