Panorama of Paris and its Environs, ornamented with thirty-one plates, elegantly engraved, descriptive of as many of the most striking public edifices.

Near-contemporary straight grain calf, titles in gilt direct to front board, ornamental gilt roll frames to boards, blue-grey endpapers, marbled edges. 31 engraved plates, including the folding frontispiece, some with tissue guards, all captioned both in French and English. Early ink ownership inscription of Arm[and] Guyard to front pastedown and p. [1]. Front board sometime rejointed, a little wear to extremities, endpapers sometime renewed, occasional faint foxing; still, a very good copy. First and only edition thus, and first edition in of this profusely illustrated, well-travelled, and rather uncommon early nineteenth-century pocket-size guide to Paris and its buildings, including Notre Dame, the Pantheon, the Observatory, and many others. WorldCat lists several similar works published in French in the previous decade, but locates only two copies of this edition: one at the University of Leeds, UK (also the only one listed by Library Hub), the other at Duke University, US.
