Madrid, 1740. 8vo. 17 pp. "End Of The Tobacco Monopoly In Cuba In The 18th Century". 8vo.; 17 pp.; wrappers. INTERESTING IMPRINT ON THE TOBACCO TRADE IN CUBA. Until 1739 the Spanish government sustained a monopoly of several industries, including tobacco, sugar and other agricultural products. This meant that producers and manufacturers were forced to sell their products exclusively to the Spanish government. This monopoly ceased after 1740 with the creation of the Trade Company (Compañía de Comercio). In this historic document, the King orders the creation of the Trade Company. A decree of great importance for the history of commerce in Cuba. *Palau 61400. [Attributes: Soft Cover]
