Grisham, John
A Time to Kill (Signed First Edition)
New York: Wynwood Press, 1989. First edition. Fine/Near Fine. A Fine book in Near Fine jacket with some bumping to corners and trivial creasing around the crown of spine. Slight separation between the rear end paper and the text block. Signed by Grisham on the half title. Wynwood published 5,000 copies of the book (but effectively had no marketing budget for the book); and Grisham purchased 1,000 copies himself to sell. Despite this, it went on to great success and became an unforgettable film starring Samuel L. Jackson, Sandra Bullock and Matthew McConaughey. Grisham's compelling legal thriller, set in Mississippi, that follows the trial of a man accused of killing his daughter's attackers. The idea for A Time to Kill came to Grisham while he worked as a lawyer in Mississippi, when he heard testimony from a young victim describing her assault. The book was later adapted into a well received 1996 film, starring Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson, and Kevin Spacey. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket.
