Presentation copy, inscribed by Queen Victoria on the half-title page in the year of publication, "To Arthur Phelps from Victoria Reg Sept. 5 1874." Princess Feodora was Queen Victoria's maternal half-sister, and lived with the young Victoria at Kensington palace. Twelve years younger than Feodora, Victoria was devoted to her elder sister, and they continued to correspond throughout their lives. In near fine condition with rubbing to the extremities. Rare. Alexandrina Victoria served as Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 1837 until her death in 1901. Referred to as the Victorian era, her reign of 63 years and seven months far exceeded that of any of her predecessors and was marked by a great expansion of the British Empire and major scientific, industrial, and cultural developments.
