Printed for the Author, Providence, 1873. 40 pp. Unopened. 8vo. 10" x 6-1/8" Lester, a prominent Providence attorney, had visited Yosemite Valley the summer of 1872, during which time he met Galen Clark, James Lamon, James Hutchings & John Muir, this latter with whom he discussed, one evening, geological theory. This work a publication of a subsequent talk on Yosemite read before the Rhode Island Historical Society, 17 December 1872. Farquhar terms this publication, "noteworthy for its appreciation of John Muir ." Per Cowan, "Being privately issued, the work is but little known." Some abrasion to spine paper, with a bit of loss at each end. Some foxing to front wrapper. PO name stamp to front wrapper verso. A VG copy.
