BREEN, Bob and Gary RAMAGE
Through Aussie Eyes. Photographs of the Australian Defence Force in Somalia, 1993
Canberra: Defence Public Relations, Department of Defence, 1994. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Dust Jacket Included. Canberra, Defence Public Relations, Department of Defence, 1994. Folio, viii, 151 pages with numerous illustrations from photographs by Gary Ramage. Synthetic cloth; top edge and endpapers a little foxed; ownership signature on the front free endpaper; an excellent copy with the dustwrapper lightly creased and rubbed, with minimal loss of paper along the top edge on the verso. The half-title is inscribed and signed by the author and the photographer. Beneath this are another five signatures: Brigadier Adrian D'Hage AO MC (Director General of Public Information); Colonel Glen Babington, 1 RAR Adjutant; Colonel William Julian Andrew Mellor DSC ('Bill Mellor', Commander, Australian Force Somalia); Major-General Murray Phillip Blake AO MC (who wrote the foreword); and Lieutenant-Colonel David Hurley DSC ('CO 1 RAR Bn' in Somalia). Pages 143-150 contain the nominal roll of all 'Personnel awarded the Australian Active Service Medal for Operation Solace' in Somalia. Loosely inserted are photocopies of some related material. The book itself is rare, even without these association signatures.
