Boni & Liveright, New York, 1942. Profusely illustrated with color and monochrome photographs, gravures, overlays and transparencies. 4 volumes in 3, as issued. Slim 4to, original colored printed wrappers (some sun fading and worn edges, but for a few minor spots, a very nice clean set). New York: Boni & Liveright, 1942, 1943, 1944. First Editions. A very good(+) set of this scarce surrealist magazine. A literary and fine art journal with Andre Breton, Marcel Duchamp and Max Ernst as editorial advisors. The title is taken from the World War II "V for Victory". Illustrations include color plates, inserts, cut-outs and other movable parts. The first issue, October 1942, has a green cover designed by Max Ernst and contributions by Claude Levi Strauss, Wm. Carlos Williams, Andre Masson and Robert Motherwell. Volume 2 and 3 is a double issue with a tan cover by Marcel Duchamp and a chicken wire insert on the back cover. The final issue, February 1944, has a red cover and is designed by Matta.
