Modern three-quarter black gold-stamped cloth over marbled paper boards with gold lettering on spine. An exciting personal account of a journey through the Near East. Irwin was dismissed from the East India Company in 1776, and traveled through Arabia and Egypt on his return to England to seek redress. Includes a personal account of Arabian life in the 18th century. Illustrated with three engraved folding maps and three engraved plates. Ex-libris of Charles W. Calloupe on inside of front board. Minor age wear to binding. Expertly reinforced with gray binders tape along gutter at front- and rear endpapers. Circular half-inch piece in center of title-page missing due to cigar burn.
