Not signed by the binder but dated 1910 at the foot of the spines. Light wear at the extremities and a few tiny edge tears her and there. It appears as if some minor repair work has been done to the hinge of the upper board on Vol. I. There are 1910 gift inscriptions on the verso of the ffep of both volumes. A compact collection of a large body of work, Wilcox (1850 – 1919) was an American author and poet, famous for the lines "Laugh, and the world laughs with you; weep, and you weep alone." Both volumes have unsigned fore-edge paintings, one a buildings and river scene, the other featuring ships in a harbor. Both paintings are detailed, but light. A lovely set.
