SOTH, Alec and Lester B. Morrison
Broken Manual
N.p.: Flat Fix / Alec Soth, 2014. Bootleg version of the artist's book by Soth, originally issued as one component of a deluxe edition published by Steidl in 2010. Staple-bound quarto with handwritten title on the spine. Designed by Flat Fix in collaboration with Alec Soth; authenticated on the back cover with an authorized stamp of Soth's signature and the Flat Fix logo. A guide to becoming a "broken man." Includes suggestions from Morrison such as "1. Change your appearance (beard)," "8. Create your own language," "7. Avoid Women," and "16. Get a dog." With photographs by Soth of back woods bunkers, the shell of the Branch Dividian bus, a shot of the Save-o-Lot in Murphy, North Carolina, where Eric Rudolph was captured, and a simple photograph of a rain-swept street in Nome, Alaska, which encapsulates the intense pathos and disaffection evident in large swatches of the United States. Fine in staple-bound printed wrappers. [Attributes: Soft Cover]
