"The Slavic Epic" is a series of twenty large-format paintings depicting the history of Slavic nations by Alfons Mucha. The series was created by Mucha from 1912-1926 and the first paintings of the series were exhibited in the Klementinum in Prague in 1919. After exhibitions of eleven paintings in Chicago and New York in 1920, the complete series of twenty paintings was exhibited in Prague at the Trade Fair Palace in 1928 and subsequently donated to the city of Prague. Mucha had been entertaining the idea since the Paris World Fair in 1900. Living in Chicago with his wife Mary Chytil from 1906-1910 Mucha met the industrialist Charles R.
