[PRINCE PRISDANG - CHAKRI DYNASTY CABINET CARDS].
A Collection of Cabinet Cards of Prince Prisdang Chumsai and Members of the Thai Royal Family circa 1882.
1882. Ipswich, Bangkok & London: John Thompson, John White & Francis Chit (?).. The cabinet cards in this collection include seven from the photography studio of John White, Ipswich, one from John Thompson at that time in London and four from Alexander Bassano's studio also in London. A single formal portrait of King Chulalongkorn, Rama V, mounted on black card is likely from the Bangkok studio of Francis Chit (Chit Chitrakani. 1830-91), the first commercial photographer in Siam who also served as court photographer for both Rama IV and Rama V. The reverse of this card bears the words "By Appointment to H.M. King of Siam" and "Bangkok" but the studio name has been obscured. A fourteenth cabinet card is unattributed. It shows a portrait in full royal dress, apparently of the young Crown … [Click Below for Full Description]
