War Memoirs of David Lloyd George, 1914-1918 A full, six-volume set in dust jackets
Little, Brown and Company, Boston, 1933. This is a full, jacketed, six-volume U.S. first edition, mixed printing set of David Lloyd George¬ís war memoirs, published between 1933 and 1937.This set has a handsome shelf presence. The substantial volumes each measure approximately 9.5 x 6.5 inches (24.1 x 16.5 cm), and are bound in red cloth with blind-rule bordered front covers featuring David Lloyd George¬ís gilt-stamped facsimile signature and spines capped with double gilt rules. The contents are illustrated, including a topical frontispiece for each volume. The set was issued in striking uniform dust jackets, printed blue, red, and black on white stock, each spine featuring black title and publisher panels bordered in white and a thick vertical red stripe bordered in white and centered in a blue field. This set features notably clean, near fine or better volumes in very good or better dust jackets. Volume I (1914-1915) is first edition, second printing, issued the month following the first printing and virtually identical. Volume II (1915-1916) is also first edition, second printing, issued the same month as the first printing, also virtually identical to the first printing. Volumes III-VI are all first edition, first printing. The red cloth bindings are uniformly square, clean, and tight with sharp corners, bright spine gilt, and no appreciable wear. The contents are exceptionally clean with a crisp, unread feel. We find no previous ownership marks and even the page edges remain almost entirely free of soiling.
