Anthony Burgess
A Clockwork Orange
Heinemann. First UK Edition/First Printing with the "First Published 1962" statement, in the first issue dust jacket with wide flaps and price intact of 16s; A Near Fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket. An outstanding copy of this landmark novel, named on multiple lists of the top 100 novels of the 20th century, and basis for the extraordinary film by Stanley Kubrick. This is the first UK edition, the true first, with the iconic purple cover. This copy is in near fine condition with a tight binding, bright gold lettering over black boards, and clean o/w to white pages with only a hint of foxing; the book does show some mild shelf wear to the spine ends, some age spotting to the free papers and first dozen or so pages, a mild darkening to the exterior text block, and a neat PO signature to the first free paper. Housed in a clean and bright dust jacket that shows none of the usual fading associated with this edition, only some light rubbing to the edges, and a few tiny chips to the spine head and the corners, else fine. Overall, an exceptional copy that is not price clipped or ex-library; protected in a mylar cover and will ship wrapped carefully in a sturdy box. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]
