Welsh, Irvine
Secker & Warburg, London, 1993. Signed first printing of the raw novel that "put contemporary Scottish fiction at the forefront of UK writing" (National Library of Scotland). Welsh's debut novel was the culmination of years of slow hammering in the darkness. Following junkies' lives in Edinburgh, TRAINSPOTTING had a meteoric affect on Scottish literature, forcing action or reaction in its wake. The 1996 film is often cited as one of the better book-to-film adaptations that captures the tone and spirit of the text. A rough read, and a remarkable one. This paperback is the true first edition. 8.5'' x 5.25''. Original white wrappers printed in orange and black with photographic vignette by David Harrold, french flaps. [8], 344 pages. Signed by Welsh in black ink on title page. A couple short creases along spine, corners bumped, overall quite a nice copy of this book. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Soft Cover]
Bookseller: Type Punch Matrix [Silver Spring, MD, U.S.A.]
