Printed for the Committee By the De Vinne Press, New York. New York: Printed for the Committee By the De Vinne Press, 1893. Large paper edition, limited edition, hand numbered 12 on the colophon. Fair to good condition, with darkened vellum and some external wear. Beautiful and elaborate production, differs from the edition distributed to churches in that it has extensive decorative floriated borders designed by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, who also designed the covers. Full vellum over beveled boards with extensive gilt decoration, brass clasps, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed, gilt printed endpapers also designed by Goodhue, attached ribbon bookmark, printed in red and black throughout. Signatures on certificate page printed in facsimile (correct for this edition). Book measures approximately 14.5 x 10.75 inches. Vellum is darkened and scuffed, with wear ro the corners and spine ends, surface separation of the vellum at the top of both front and rear joints. Internally good to very good with hinges good, text block sound but not tight (no loosened pages), clean pages with a few signs of use, one double-page spread with its floriated borders skillfully watercolored, one additional page having a small portion watercolored, handwritten note and 1909 date on preliminary blank, no other markings. .
