An exquisitely beautiful and very rare illustrated Bible in a rare condition and quarto sized (usually these illustrated Bibles are in the smaller octavo size) with full leather binding and gold decorations. All page edges gilt. Bound with a complete 'Book of Common Prayer' (with title page, prelims/calendars, prayers and Psalter). Followed by the complete Old Testament (with ornament title page), Apocrypha and New Testament (with 2 titles, 1683). Illustrated with over 100 leaves of amazing engravings, also including a set of portraits of the apostles. The Bible is extensively red-ruled (by hand) throughout - very attractive! Complete in every aspect with a total of 4 title pages! This is an extensive volume printed on extra thick paper and is therefore close to 4.5" thick! This large/thick quarto sized Bible is in a near mint condition and suitable for daily use. Clean roman letter text throughout, with clean pages and paper. Inlaid title to BcP. No writings.
