Constable, London. (London: Constable and Robinson 2008). First UK Edition, First Printing. Publisher's pale yellow boards with black lettering to the spine. ISBN: 978-1-84529-650-6. A tiny bump to the bottom edge of the front board, a hint of cockling to the page block and slightly soft spine tips (as the book has probably been read once) overall a near fine copy. The UK first edition D/W is priced £18.99 to the bottom right hand corner of the front flap and is in fine (or better) condition. This copy comes with an additional D/W from the US first edition published by Soho Constable. There are a number of differences between the 2 D/W's most notably to the inside and back flaps and the back panel where the US First Edition D/W has an additional review from the Publisher's Weekly. The First UK Edition has a different ISBN from its US counterpart. A bibliographical note: Reconstruction was published by Constable & Robinson Ltd in the UK and Soho Constable in the US. This is the same book published in both countries. The artwork on the D/W's is identical but there are differences with Publisher, ISBN and Price details. Strangely the US D/W shows the price in both dollars and pounds whereas the UK D/W just shows the UK price of £18.99. The early part of this book tells of a hostage situation in a pre-school classroom. But Mick Herron never tells a suspense story in the expected way and the story evolves into an espionage mystery about a spy who has disappeared together with a large sum of money.
