Beautiful illustrations by Harry Clarke. Henry Clarke (1889 - 1931) was an Irish stained glass artist and illustrator. He was a leading figure in the Irish Arts and Crafts Movement. This was Clarke's first printed work and he went on to illustrate editions of Edgar Allan Poe's "Tales of Mystery and Imagination", Perrault's "Fairy Tales" and Goethe's "Faust". Good condition. Original decorated cloth, rubbed and soiled. Spine discoloured and some slight fraying to extremities. Some old damp staining to lower edges. Light to mild spotting throughout. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Free endpapers a little toned. Occasional creasing to tissue guards. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
