The Causes of the War between Great-Britain and Spain: as they appear from the papers that passed between both courts, impartially considered
London: Printed for R. Griffiths, 1762. Quarto. iv, 32pp. Light tanning. Very good. Disbound. A scarce discussion of the commencement of hostilities between Spain and Great Britain in 1762 in the midst of the Seven Years' War.The tract is decidedly opposed to the war, and quoting heavily from public documents, excoriates the British government for unnecessarily adding to military expenses while at war with France. It also opposes the views of William Pitt, who at the time advocated for an immediate attack on Spain and resigned when the rest of the cabinet demurred. The conflict between Great Britain and Spain led to brief British occupations of Cuba and the Philippines. ESTC locates copies at only eight institutions.ESTC N26780.
