Journal of the Washington Academy of Sciences (66 Volumes in 44)
Washington DC: Washington Academy of Sciences , 1976. First Edition. Quartos; Volume 1 (1911) through Volume 66 (1976) complete (Vol. 49 lacks No. 9). Ex-Stanford University Library with expected faults, especially in older volumes. The 1898 founders included Alexander Graham Bell and Samuel Langley, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. The purpose of the new Academy was to encourage the advancement of science and "to conduct, endow, or assist investigation in any department of science." The interdisciplinary Journal of the Academy is its official organ. This peer-reviewed Journal publishes original scientific research, critical reviews, historical articles, proceedings of scholarly meetings of its affiliated societies, reports of the Academy, and other items of interest and appears quarterly. Authors have included at least ten Nobel Prize winners as well as dozens of nationally known scientists. N.B. These heavy 44 volumes will require extra postage (overseas shipping will be brutal!).
