TRIMMED COPY. 4to, approximately 175 x 135 mm, 6¾ x 5½ inches, added engraved title, woodcuts in the text, some full page, three divisional title pages with publisher and date, pages: [10], [1]-112, [16], 121-192, lacks last page Ff4, a blank, see ESTC S122341. T4 with illustration is bound before the Book of Extravagants not between numbers 14-15 as printed on the page, lacks 1 plate in the Drawing Part of a naked lady with long hair, now replaced in good FACSIMILE, bound in full roan, red gilt lettered label to spine, new endpapers, edges stained red. Binding rubbed, spine faded, engraved title page slightly dusty and trimmed with loss of outer margin and lower margin with loss to publishing details, inner margin repaired on blank side, lower corner slightly chipped, a few small repairs to edges on blank side, pages 171 to end have pale stain to outer margin, not affecting text, a few pages slightly grubby, pages in Extravagants section have a horizontal crease in the middle of the page, occasional ink spot, pale age-browning throughout, 2 old ink line drawings to title page of art section, good copy only of the first edition. This work is alleged to have influenced Sir Isaac Newton.
