The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling.
London: Macdonald, , 1953. Octavo (175 x 120 mm). Bound by Bayntun-Riviere in near-contemporary red calf, blue and green labels to spine lettered in gilt, spine gilt to compartments within raised bands, double fillet to covers, gilt roll-tooled turn-ins, grey marbled endpapers, gilt edges. Coloured frontispiece with tissue guard. Gift inscription dated 1970 to binder's blank. Slight marking to covers, short closed tear to title page, slight cockling to head of leaves, p. 227 repaired with slight loss to text at head. A very good copy. A finely bound copy of Fielding's classic, first published in 1749.
