BROWN, Charles Platt (The Man Behind the Counter)
A Great Game, An Interesting Episode of the Great White Way [BILLIARD FICTION] [SIGNED AND INSCRIBED]
Broadway Publishing Company New York 1914. First Edition. A scarce novel in which a very high stakes game of billiards serves as the basis for the character's subsequent actions. Two men similar in appearance (and both top pool players) play three games of billiards with the wager that if Heyward wins he will take over Brently's estate and income for a year (and if he loses has to leave the country forever). Romance and gunplay follow. [Found in Geoffrey Smith's American Fiction 1901 - 1925] Exceptionally uncommon. Very Good in dustjacket lacking about a third of the spine material, else Very Good. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]
Bookseller: Babylon Revisited Rare Books [Northampton, MA, U.S.A.]
