Prague, 1996. Prague: (1996). Small square folio, stiff wrappers with printed label, original cloth slipcase. In near fine condition, in a NF slipcase box. SIGNED LIMITED EDITION, #165 of only 300 numbered copies signed by Bocek, Jedlicka, and Kohl. Based on an album compiled and designed by Sudek in the 1950s with the help of the photographer Miroslav Kohl. Though not realized during his lifetime, the collection is organized from Sudek's own sequencing and sizing of his photographs, featuring a variety of work from his earliest photographs to his mature fine art images. Illustrated with over 80 tritone reproductions of Sudek's lanscapes, portraits, and commercial work along with an original photograph of Sudek. With text by Jaroslav Bocek and designed by Pavel Jedlicka.Josef Sudek (1896 - 1976) was a Czech photographer, best known for his photographs of Prague. Sudek founded the progressive Czech Photographic Society in 1924. Despite only having one arm, he used large, bulky cameras with the aid of assistants.
