WILDE, Oscar (1854-1900)
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Paris: Charles Carrington 1908. FIRST ILLUSTRATED EDITION. Quarto (26 x 20cm), pp.312. Illustrated with 7 full-page wood engravings by Eugene Dété from drawings by Paul Thiriat of Paris, with titled tissue guards. The publisher's note on the illustrations is tipped on to the half title (although dated 1908, the book was issued in 1910 due to the artist's health). Bound in half Japanese vellum, gilt lettering to spine, grey paper covered boards, original printed dust-wrapper. Light spotting otherwise clean within; binding is fine. Original jacket mostly complete, with loss to foot of spine and some chips/loss along top edge, some discreet archival tape to reverse side. A used yet presentable example of the scarce jacket.
