Hand-colored fold-out map, 23 hand-colored full-page maps, index: 32pp. 1 vols. 8vo. The standard 19th-century school textbook in its original binding. Samuel Butler (1774-1839), the father of the more famous Samuel Butler, re-founded Shrewsbury School and was its headmaster. He was also bishop of Coventry and Lichfield.
