London: Printed for A Millar. London: for A. Millar, 1749. First Edition (Vols I, II, IV, V and VI), Second Edition (Vol III). Six volumes, duodecimo (165 x 100 mm approximately). Contemporary full red morocco bound in the late 1800's by Francis Bedford, Bookbinder in London favoured by the Duke of Portland, raised bands, spines elaborately gilt in compartments, triple gilt rule to boards, inner dentelles gilt, marbled endpapers, with the binder's mark in gilt to the front paste down dentelle. First edition, first issue for all Volumes apart from III, with the errata leaf (c8 recto - as called for) in Volume I. Six twelvemo volumes. Vol I - lxii, [1, errata], [1, blank], 214pp; Vol II - [2], 324pp; Vol III - [2], 370pp; Vol IV - [2], 312pp; Vol V - [2], 294pp; Vol VI - [2], 304pp. All collation is as per Rothschilds save for Vol III where the cancels have been replaced. Bound without the final blanks in Volume I (K12), and Volume III (R12), as called for. With all of the cancels called for by Rothschild: B9 and B10 in Volume I; B4, B5, and N12 in Volume II; and N8 in Volume V; B5 unsigned in Vol VI as called for. Lacking the cancels in Vol III, H8, H9, H10, M3 and Q11. Decorative woodcut tail-pieces.
