Very good +/very good. 4to; [32pp]; color pictorial paper over board, tan cloth shelf-back; color pictorial endpapers; color halftone illustrations with borders every page, text sometimes inset into the illustration; light scuff to bottom, chipping to front board fore-edge, bumping of bottom corners;  color pictorial dust jacket unclipped but lacking price, chipping to fore edge, corners and head and tail of spine, 2 closed tears to rear dj; very good plus in very good dust jacket.  Scarce in its dust jacket.  BAL 5889. . Included with the book and dust jacket is one of the printing plates.  The steel relief printing plate numbered "0967"  for the illustrated page:  "But up in that tree sits a chocolate cat, and a gingerbread dog prowls below-".  Both are housed in a custom clamshell by Julie Stackpole, the book on a lift-out tray with the steel plate below. Eugene Field (1850-1895) was an American journalist and writer, and much beloved for his childhood poetry.  Published posthumously, this volume includes the childhood favorite, Wynken, Blynken and Nod, and others: Fiddle Dee-Dee; The Naughty Doll; Lady Button-Eyes; and The Sugar-Plum Tree. The printing plate is from the last poem, The Sugar-Plum Tree, and includes the title in all capital letters: "But up in that tree sits a chocolate cat, and a gingerbread dog prowls below-".  The illustrations are in the highly stylized Art Deco mode; the illustrator(s) is not identified by the publisher.[Attributes: In Dust Jacket]
