Marbled endpapers. 150 illustrations and three color fold-out maps in map pockets (Emin Pasha Relief Expedition route through Africa, Emin Pasha's province, and the Great Forest Region). Tissue-guarded frontis. Bindings show wear to edges. Vol. II has damage to bottom corner of spine on front cover has begun to split from spine. Original owner's bookplates on inside. Otherwise, inside pages are clean and unmarked. Maps have fold creases with a few small tears. Top of Vol. II's map slipcase has detached from endpaper.
