Engraved portrait of Miss Pardoe, extra engraved title with vignette, another portrait, of Sultan Abdul Medschid Chan, an engraved map, & 84 engraved views (as called for). 4to (11 x 8 1/2 inches), 172-pages. Contemporary half brown morocco, green cloth sides, all edges gilt. Joints rubbed, cloth sides marked, upper inner joint cracked but firm on cords. Plates with largely marginal foxing. This edition contains 5 additional plates to the first edition by the addition of an appendix covering the Crimean war. The extra views are of Gallipoli; Varna; Odessa; Smyrna; & Sebastopol.
