Lodge, Edmund
Portraits and Memoirs of the Most Illustrious Personages of British History, 12 Volumes
London: Harding and Lepard, 1835. Fourth Edition, with an entirely new set of plates and sixty additional subjects. Quarto (11 inches tall; 28 cm), bound in handsome half deep blue morocco and lighter blue cloth boards, raised bands, gilt spine, very good sharp set with bookplates of John C. Wellington and from Carnegie Mellon University Library (with CMU's withdrawn stamps), and small ink stamp of CMU's library on one of the preliminary pages of each volume. Bound entirely from parts, with original wraps bound in at the end of each volume, ranging from a pale cream color to a pale orange shade. Title pages all dated 1835, but the wraps are dated 1829-1835. Contents remarkably bright and clean. 240 engravings. Light rubbing to tips of corners and to spines, but so minor that we haven't even bothered doing any touching-up, some of the bindings slightly mellowed in spine color. Extra postage will be charged for this heavy set. Very Good. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
Bookseller: Common Crow Books [United States]
