Publisher's decorated gray cloth with a floral art nouveau design (signed EMD) stamped in gold on the front board and spine, top edge gilt. Ownership signature (dated November 1896) and armorial bookplate of George Allaire Howe, a prominent steel manufacturer and attorney from Pennsylvania. Moderate wear to the board edges and fading to the gold design on the front board and spine, very good in good printed dust jacket, repeating the floral art nouveau design in gold on the front and spine. Overall darkening to the jacket, two modest dampstains along the flap folds, and a few chips and tears. An attractive design, scarce in jacket. *Richards* A92, *Tanselle* 96.14+.
