Escoffier, A.
A Guide To Modern Cookery : With Related Ephemera
The First UK printed by Heinemann, London in 1907. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. The book retains the original publisher's boards with gilt titling and decoration to the the front cover. Some pushing at the spine ends with very slight splitting. The binding remains tight. Very slight rubbing at the corners and spine folds, with only light related markings to the boards which remain very clean for their age. Just a little fading of the green colour to the spine. The gilt titling to the spine and front panel is complete and remains bright. The green text-block stain remains vibrant. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Very light offsetting and spotting to the prelims, otherwise the book is clean. Tissue guard to frontis is still present and is lightly offset. The book is protected in a loose Mylar archival cover. The book is in exceptional condition for its age and of the three copies we have handled in the last 10 years, this is certainly the nicest. Escoffier's recipes, techniques and approaches to kitchen management remain highly influential today, and have been adopted by chefs and restaurants not only in France, but also throughout the world. Accompanied by a loosely inserted 4 page pamphlet 'Escoffier Limited' which details Escoffier preparations which could be purchased. The pamphlet is complete and is in near Fine condition with just a little toning to the edges. Collectible. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcome direct contact.
