LANNAN, James J.
Photo Album]: Boston Skating Club
Boston, 1950. Quarto. Measuring 10" x 11". Green three ring binder. Contains 150 sepia-toned, black and white, or color silver gelatin photographs measuring between 1" x 1" and 5" x 7", with captions. Very good with some spotting and edgewear with near fine photographs. A photo album kept by a young man, James J. Lannan, who spent time at the Boston Skating Club beginning in the late 1940s and continuing through the 1990s, with the bulk of the photos from the 1950s. The images show young people ice skating and goofing off at the ice rink, and mugging for the camera. The club had costume parties, a ticket for one is present, and many of the photos show skaters in various costumes including as babies, a cat, and cowboys, along with some of the men in uniforms. It appears James and his friends got together later in life in the 1990s at a reunion because the last few pages show significantly older patrons with the caption "1995." The album ends with a photo of a man at the ice rink organ. A nice collection of images showing the goings on at a skating rink through the 1950s. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
