Recent brown half calf over marbled boards, spine with raised bands, all edges marbled, inscribed "From the Author" on the title page, old faint library stamps to the verso of three plates, not affecting the image, the description of plate XXXIII (p.52) with an early, possibly authorial, manuscript alteration. 54 fine hand coloured aquatint plates. Plate XXVIII in volume I (Gypsum) shaved close at the upper margin, small hole (not much larger than a pin) to one text leaf in volume II, some occasional spotting, otherwise very good. M.P. for Fowey for nearly 40 years, Rashleigh's collection ".remains unrivalled for its content of Cornish specimens. The upper zones of the rich Cornwall deposits were being exploited when Rashleigh formed the collection and he obtained a tremendous variety of unusual and rare minerals, many of them known only from this region and several only from his specimens.
