Negus, V.E.
The Mechanism of the Larynx.
London: Heinemann, 1929. First edition. Large 8vo. xxx, 526pp., 15 folding tables. Good copy in original cloth, a little rubbed and marked. Inner rear hinge neatly repaired. This book, a landmark of comparative anatomy, is very scarce. Negus showed that the main function of the larynx is as a valve that only allows air into the lower respiratory tract. The human voice evolved as a byproduct of this more vital function. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
Bookseller: Mark Westwood Books PBFA [Sedbergh, United Kingdom]
