HARDCOVER. 8vo bound in full contemporary brown calf, raised bands and gilt decoration to spine, marbled end-papers, xvi + 188pp (collated complete). This is the second and much corrected edition of the 'Fifth' Pharmacopoeia', published less than a year after the first printing. Introductory text in English, rest in Latin. The 'Fifth Pharmacopoeia' was produced under Henry Plumptre's Presidency who oversaw its wholesale revision and re-construction, bringing it for the first time into the modern scientific age.
