Peking (Beijing): Camera Craft Co. Legation Street, 1913. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Text in English. Illustrations in black and white. Original string binding, heavy paper wrappers with titles "Peking. Art Series IV." in English and "Bei Jing Mei Shu Pin Di Si Bu" in Chinese characters on front. An photographic plate "Hunting Park Pagoda- Western Hills" pasted on front cover. Covers slightly worn at the edges. About 3cm splittings on top and bottom of front cover. Spine head and foot worn with 1.5cm x 1.3cm paper missing at the top. Pencil marks on first page. Otherwise in a very good condition. Without publication date, circa 1910s. "During its centuries of imperial residence, the city has been beautified by many buildings, temples and altars, most of them typifying the barbaric splendor of the tartar rulers of China. Foreign influence and the establishment of the Republic have made few changes in Peking, and the city remains the same mysterious, picturesque, interesting place it has been" (Introduction). Illustrated with 30 mounted collotypes photographic plates, captions in English. A scarce album edited and published by John D. Zumbrun in Beijing.
