Norman Maclean.
A River Runs Through It. {Signed Limited Edition}.
Signed by Author. Chicago and London. University of Chicago Press. 1983. Limited Edition. Book number 211 of 500 copies published. Signed by Norman Maclean on the limitation page. Octavo (8 x 7). viii, [2], 124 pp. plus colophon. Photo color frontispiece showing the Big Blackfoot river captured in August 1982 by Joel Snyder. And there are numerous color plates throughout the book showing the Big Blackfoot and its runs, riffles, and pools. This edition includes the added essay written by Norman, "On the Edge of Swirls; " it's the place where fly fishermen should spend most of their time, fishing and living their lives. It's stunning to think now, nearly 45 years after the book's initial publication in 1976, that several large publishing houses rejected the manuscript because it was a script "with trees in it." Fortunately is was Maclean's University of Chicago Press editors who saw the beauty, wisdom, and insight in the ms. and published his book. The book is bound in two-tone blue cloth with silver titles on the spine and decorations on the front cover. With a color photo plate affixed to the front cover. Beautifully decorated end papers. A nice book. In fine condition. [Attributes: Signed Copy; Hard Cover]
