Ernest Hemingway
The Old Man and the Sea
Charles Scribner's Sons, 1952. First printing with Scribner’s “A” and seal on the copyright page. In a price-clipped, first issue dust jacket, without mention of the Nobel Prize and with the font on the flaps in brown. The tint on Hemingway’s photograph on the rear panel appearing slightly blue. The bookplate of a Bernard Mellon on the front pastedown, as well as his ownership signature. Otherwise, internally clean, unmarked and uncreased. Crisp silver titles on the spine. The beautifully vibrant dust jacket showing only mild sunning to the spine. A small scratch to the spine and a touch of loss at the crown. A little closed tear at the top of the front panel, with a neat, transparent tape reinforcement on the verso. A bit of toning to the verso. Still, a beautiful copy - near fine. One of the most enduring works of American literature. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]
Bookseller: Canton Books [Princeton, NJ, U.S.A.]
