Contemporary full vellum, spine with handwritten title in ink, marbled edges. Fine copy. OCLC 8211740. Hoffman I, p. 376. Fine collection of the writings of Arrianus translated into latin and annotated by the Dutch scholar Nicolas Blankaert (1625-1703), with the Latin and Greek text in two paralell columns. The first part includes his treatise of Tactic and the Instruction on the order of battle against Alano, the tour of the Euxine Sea, that of the Red Sea, a tratise on hunting, Enchiridion and Apopthegmes of Epictetos. The large folding map (40x47 cm) by Abraham Ortelius shows the Indian Ocean, with Africa and the mouth of the Nile and Madagascar, the Arabian peninsula, India, Persia, Malasyia etc., and with two small round maps, showing the north of Europe "Hyperborei" resp. West Africa "Annonis Periplus". The smaller map (17x21 cm) shows the Black Sea (Euxine Sea) and its surroundings.
