Fair; Rear hinge cracked, front board detached, lower fore-corner . of first five leaves incomplete but not effecting text, scattered . toning but still a tight usable copy.. 1677. First Edition. Hardcover. Small 4to; Contemporary calf with blind-ruled border, [22], 56, 248, 142, [2-ads], [2]p., the final pagination is the half-title, containing "Published by Authority." and the errata on the verso. **"...particularly in the infinite Drove of their Adored, but Lying Wonders and Miracles, By no Roman, but a Reformed Catholick." **Wing H3343. With the type-set book-plate of "Thomas Cushing's Book, 1741." within an ornamental border. Charles Dexter Alllen's American Book-plates does not list this bookplate but his #193 is similar: "Jacob Cushing, His Book. 1746. A plain printed label with border of ornamental type." Sibley lists two Thomas Cushings, class of 1711 and 1744. The front free end-paper has been pasted down but it shows a name ending in "...omfield." There is more early writing showing but it has been partially obscured. .
