A handbook for the 1911 Chicago Child Welfare Exhibit held at The Coliseum between May 11 and May 25, which followed a similar event held in New York the year before. This book begins with a foreword by Jane Adams, who served as chairman, and an article by philanthropist Anita McCormick Blaine. The handbook addresses the problems facing children growing up in Chicago in the early part of the 20th Century, including housing, work and wages, health services, as well as proposal to improve their situation through civil associations and clubs, education, and improved playgrounds and day care. Laid in is a 14-page program that lists among the speakers Booker T. Washington ("The Claim of the Colored Child"), along with a four-page "Daily Bulletin" for May 14th, 15th, and 16th. *OCLC* locates no copies of the program or daily bulletin.
